Forest-Raised Heritage Pork

Forest-raised, heritage pigs.

These are slower growing, dark haired pigs. Hardy to our harsh weather. Raised outside, all day, every day.

Heritage breed pigs are known for their delicious flavour and beautiful buttery fat.

In 2022 we started on the journey of breeding our own pigs and now raise pigs that spend their entire lives on our farm. This has been an incredibly rewarding journey - there is nothing cuter than a litter of new born piglets!

In addition to garden scraps, our pigs are fed grains milled right here on farm. During the warm months the grains are soaked for 12-24 hours to ferment, which makes them more nutritious and more easily digestible. We source our grains locally, and try to use organic gains as much as we can.

We rotate our pigs throughout our forest every week or so, to continuously give the pigs access to fresh forage.

This practice is based on regenerative principles to maintain the health and biological diversity of the forest.

By limiting the amount of time that pigs are on any given forest paddock, we can prevent them from over-rooting and destroying the soil life.

Rest is essential in this system, so pigs do not return to the same paddock for at least 8 weeks, allowing time for vegetation to regrow with renewed vigour.

Our pigs are processed in a provincially inspected abattoir and butchered personally at Timothy’s Country Butcher Shop in Dugald, MB.

We sell whole, halves, packages, and by the cut.
